S(P)EEK

Around 6.5% of India’s population suffers from various mental illnesses and the number is estimated to go up to 20% with the COVID-19 pandemic. The staggering rise in such cases in India indicates a stronger need for a robust healthcare system, with higher accessibility to services, delivery of timely interventions and cost-effective solutions to treat individuals with mental illnesses. S(P)EEK is our unique community based mental health awareness project model with Mental Healthcare and Research Foundation (Mehac), National Health Mission (NHM) (Ernakulam) and Antara. We trained healthcare workers and volunteers to create mental health awareness and eliminate the stigma by educating the community and addressing their needs.
